I have a selection of 85gr Barnes Triple Shock loaded with R19 from 38-44 grains in 1/2 grain increments. Planning on hitting the range this afternoon (if the rain holds off), just curious anybody has loaded in this combination before? What was your best result? Any recommendations IN THIS RANGE? Not interested in loading them any hotter, just looking for a stout hunting load with some good accurate speed. FYI, shooting an A-bolt Varmint.

Thanks. I've put a box of factory 95gr Ballistic tips through it, and they were nearly punching holes in one another. I'm just not a big fan of the Ballistic tips, especially in such a small bullet...not for deer at good distances. The gun is definitely fun.

SuperShort, Is your A-Bolt the Varmint Stalker? I've never carried one of those afield, but I'd love to get one in .25wssm. What are your thoughts on the rifle? Balance, Accuracy, Trigger tell me what you think. Thanks. Life's too short to carry a gun that you hate!

You don't want to hear this but ... Consider going up to 45 gr of R19. Most accurate 85 TSX load I have found for Mom's 77 RSI.

Kimber.204, The gun shoots great so far with factory ammo. It's really small and rather light even with the varmint barrel. I usually carry an A-Bolt 300 WSM BOSS with the same Zeiss scope, and there is very little difference in the two that I notice. I haven't had the trigger adjusted YET, but I will. From the factory there is no creep on the A-bolts, but they are a little stiffer than I like. Had a 7mm that got down to 2.5lb with just the adj. screw, but the 300WSM isn't quite there even after a honing job too. Overall, they are great rifles out of the box if you ask me. I'm on my 3rd!

Thanks for the input ya'll. Our first batch had some length problems, and a few swollen necks. May be the settings on the press though. Got a sample pack coming from Superior, will report performance in a week or two. Thanks again, and if you come across any more info, keep it coming!

Here's an update on my post from last fall. Sold that P.O.S. The gun had a nice feel to it, but ran into some real feeding problems. I loaded every which way I could, and nothing would feed except that junk Winchester is making. The gun was accurate, but it'll suffice for the grandkids my buddy bought it for. If you are considering this caliber, and are a serious shooter, I'd recommend you stick to a straight 243. If you want the added speed in a super varmint rifle, get a Remington 700 VLS in the 6mm with a 100gr Federal Partition.

I find your logic in error, if you're blamming the rifle and factory ammo, rather than the guy doing the reloading. On 10/18/06 you reported that your rifle was able to shoot the Winchester/Olin 95 grain BT factory loads such that "they were nearly punching holes in one another", suggesting small sub-MOA groups. On 10/24/06 you reported that your rifle shot great with factory ammo. On 05/18/07, you report that you've sold the rifle, which is now a P.O.S., and it will only feed with the Winchester/Olin factory ammo, which you now refer to as "junk". Where is the variable in this equation? The rifle? No. The factory ammo? No. The reloaded ammo? It appears so and whose fault is that? Browning? No, they didn't reload the ammo. Winchester/Olin? No, they didn't reload the ammo. The reloader? If not, who? Jeff
