Howdy Ray B, I've got a 99EG too, as well as a Ruger 77R and I just picked up this XP -100 Custom shop beauty.

So if you need to rehome your components (Brass?) Send me a PM.

Gary

I have a 250 mod. 99 in a old take down, a like new rifle and the most accurate rifle I have ever owned, its truly a freak, shoots everything I put in it consistently in under 1/2 inch, to the same POI, Got a 10 shot group that's about 45 caliber, shoots any wt bullet except boattails..Will never sell it but your welcome to shoot it if you get down this way...I also have a 99EG in .308 and that's a rare one; a 99F (1950ish) in 250 and that's a rare one also..A 99EG in 308 and 250-3000 but have not seen that 250 in quit a while, grand son lay claim to it..Love 99s and the 250.

I picked up a slightly used Savage Axis in 7mm08, an ER Shaw Savage 250 barrel, and a Boyds stock. It went together pretty quickly and shoots like a dream. I included a Timney Trigger and wow, just wow. I use it for target/technique practice, as the low recoil and accuracy are everything I could ask for.

In my experience the 250 Savage is the one cartridge that I expect to shoot an inch or better under any circumstances, its just that good a case..Never owned one that wouldn't do that..Consistency is the 250-3000s claim to fame.

One of the easiest things to correct, pick up any used short action Savage with a .473 bolt face (that can also be changed) and spend about 15 minutes and change the barrel to 250-3000 custom or factory.

I purchased a 1903 made in 1919 that had been sporterized and sent it to CP Donnelly to rebarrel to 250 Sav. He was getting ready to retire and was looking forward to the project, and said that the first rifle that he had worked on was an '03 so it was fitting that one would be his last. Then his cancer worsened and he didn't get to it. I miss him whenever I hear about an '03 that has been rebarrelled to 250.
