There's a blurb in the March Shootin Times under "Shooters Update" which states that EAA is importing a Brno 98 in 270, 30-06, 300 Win mag, and 7mm Rem mag. Does anyone know anything about this rifle? Is it a take off on the Brno 600 series? They say it comes with a synthetic stock or can be purchased as a barreled action. Any info appreciated.

Thanks guys, Fritz, I agree on the engraving. The Shooting Times blurb stated that EAA was only importing four calibers, all 30-06 length actions. Also only with a composite stock or barreled action. I would be interested in the 308 and 6.5 X 55 with walnut stock. The $325 price is good but I bet the wood stock version is more. It will be interesting to see if other models are imported here later. Again, thanks.

I was heartbroken when I saw the pictures of those rifles!
What a horrible-looking stock on an otherwise attractive rifle. (Well, I'd leave the open sights off too...) Can't anyone in Czechoslovakia design a beautiful straight stock, as stocks on rifles should be, instead of those grotesque monstrosities that look like a sick dog's hind leg?

Brian, The short magazine article said that EAA was going to import them so I guess none have been imported yet. Does anyone know a procedure for buying one in Europe and having it imported? I know you have to get Customs approval through a gun dealer. I guess what I'm asking is how do you go about buying one in Europe? I'm interested in a 308 or 6.5 X 55 Barreled action.

They could once, but have forgotten it. The stoch of older Brno:s can be quite good. No fancy wood but good shape. These new one are just another example of the common European hog back decease. It can only be cured with chisels and files...

I just looked it up with the wholesaler and the 270 Win and 30-06 are in. I do not kwon if the Dealer have them in stock but they can order them. The 7mm Rem and the 300 Win should be coming soon
Thanks Manhasset, I'll check it out. I wonder how one would go about buying a barreled action from Europe in a caliber that's not imported to the US, like 6.5 X 55 or 308?
