I quick tested the 100 gr E-Tip in my M700 Classic 257 Roberts and can share the following data with everyone.

IMR 4350 loaded to a Max charge with 41.5 grs, R-P case and Federal GM210M primers. Avg MV 2779 fps, ES 40, SD 20. Accuracy was 2.05".

RL 19 loaded to a Max charge with 46.0 grs gave an Avg MV 3053 fps, ES 38, SD 20. Accuracy was 1.772". The COL was 2.900" and I will have to work with this to improve accuracy.

I shot into water jugs at 100 yds, MV was 3042 fps and the bullet was recovered sticking out the back side of jug #5.

The recovered bullet weighed 98.7 grs and measured .584" diameter and the length is .635".

I will update with accuracy improvements.

Thanks for the report.....well done.

That bullet is classic in performance....just what most shooters would like!

JD338,
Good report, but I am confused. You said that 41.5 of IMR 4350 was a max. load when the Hodgdon manual lists the max. loading for a 100gr. bullet at 44.5gr. That would give 2930fps velocity. Sounds like you could shovel a few more grains into those 'bob cases. bewildered

Mort,

The Nosler E-Tip has a long bearing surface and pressures can spike very quickly. Nosler states that their Mid-load data is considered MAX for the E-Tip.

That accuracy sucks. I have 2 Classics and they stack bullets on top of each other. I have had great results with the 100gr TSX loaded to 3050 fps. I use IMR 4064. My classics seem a bit finicky with loads but once I found the powder they liked the groups turned into holes.

JD your accuracy results are in line with my experience with my Ruger Ultralight in 257R ie. 1 1/2 to 2". I have not tried the E tip yet. What are they supposed to bring to the table compared to the other poly tip Nosler bullets?
Perry I too have had better results with the TSX bullets, in my case, 115grain. I favor the heavier bullets.
Thanks, Peter.

Peter,

The E-Tip is a monolithic copper bullet that offers tremendous weight retention and can be used in pb free hunting areas of CA.

The 100 gr BT shoots .5", the 115 gr BT shots .6" and the 110 gr AB shoots .7" from my M700 Classic.
I hope to get the 100 gr E-Tip to shoot sub MOA by playing with the COL.
