I'm thinking about buying a Winchester M70 XTR Push Feed in .257 Roberts (preferably) or 6.5x55. What should I expect to pay for one? Jaywalker

Jay - The last XTR's I have seen have been for sale priced from $450 to $600 depending on condition and chambering. The last XTR I bought (2years ago) was chambered in .338 Win Mag and had a Leupold Vari-X II 2-7X33 scope in Leupold DD rings and a Vias muzzle brake mounted. Price was $600. I know where there is a 98% condition XTR in 300 H&H that has a $600 price tag. BTW where in Virginia are you located. I own property in Bedford and Pittsylvania counties. Jay I am assuming you are refering to the XTR featherweight. I have seen a couple in 257 roberts that are running $600-$800 on several auction sites. I would love to have one in 6.5X55 to complement my .257 and 7x57 featherweights. They are fine rifles with above average fit and finish, although I have never seen a used one that did not have thin bluing on the bolt handle. My .257 is a long action but the bolt stop, magazine, and throat limit it to 2.8" COL bama

Interesting, thanks, and yes, "Featherweight." That's reasonable, while the $1k+ I've seen lately is definitely not. I have an M70 Classic Featherweight in 6.5 Swede that I like, so I'd prefer the 257 Roberts. Jaywalker

There is a XTR Deluxe PF 270 - not a Featherweight - that is in about 85+% condition with some bumps and scratchs in the stock and missing the rear sight at my local pawn shop for $375. Looks to be mid 80's era and untouched except for wear. Typical of that production era it needs a trigger tuning like my 1979 Fwt 257 'Bob did. Ron
