A friend of mine sold me his Savage .17 HMR. He was in a little bind for cash and knew I wanted to get one of these little rifles anyway, so when he asked if I'd be interested in buying it, I jumped at the chance. $200 later, it was riding in the back seat on the way home. It's a slick little Savage .17 HMR, stainless steel, bull barrel action in a laminated stock. My friend likes to play with guns, so he had done a trigger job on it. Now the trigger breaks at 2 lbs. with no creep or backlash. It came topped with a Tasco 4 x 12 scope.

With a brief stop at Wal-Mart for some ammo, I went to the garage and set up a 50 yard target. Without touching the scope at all, I sent a round down range. I liked where the first one hit, so with lightly gusting winds, I fired five more. Here's a picture of the 3 inch target...

Overall, I'm fairly impressed with this little bugger. I'm thinking that the squirrels chewing on my garage siding might be in a little trouble....

Crikey Mate how longs your garage ?. Eeker Big Grin

Enjoy your new toy , I don't own that caliber. However I do own a few Savages and they might look boogly too some folks

; Their accuracy speaks volumes of close nit holes and your squirrel problems will vanish before your very eyes .

PS : never much cared for Tasco optics , hope yours in a Good one , keep it tight !. tu2

LOL Doc, I guess I could have phrased that a little better. My garage is only 24 x 32, but I have a low window built into the side with a shooting bench built underneath, just big enough to hold a Caldwell Lead Sled. 50 yards from the side of the garage is a big old hickory tree. I have a ton of unprinted church fans that are perfect for stapling to the side of the tree and having holes shot in them.

This is actually the second Tasco scope I have. I have a Tasco World Class 2.5 x 10 power on a .300 Win Mag that is now about 10 years old that still shoots great. So if this one works half as well, I'll be pleased.

Yep Doc, it's a deader. I was going to cut it down and give it to a friend for firewood, but decided I'd see how many shots it'll take before I shoot it down... Eeker

I really like my .17 HMR, but I thought the cost of ammo would really come down sometime, but it hasn't happened yet.

Everything I say is fully substantiated by my own opinion.
