Im from Argentina and I will soon purchase a Remington 700 Police rifle. Because the rifle in .308 Win. is not available here I choose the .223 Rem caliber. I never use the .223 Rem. (in my country the small calibers are not very popular). If someone have this rifle (700P in .223 Rem.) will be very helpful some comment or experience. Is the rifle reasonable accurate? Have you a good impression of this weapon? The rifle will be used to target shooting in gallery (also the varmint hunting is not common here).
(Sorry my bad English)
Thank you very much Nicols Carone Buenos Aires Argentina
From what I have seen the 700 police will do you just fine. I would think that with the proper loads you should beable to get sub. .5 in groups at a 100yds with it. have fun trying it. do you do any dove or bird hunting I hear that it is just great.

I didnt bird hunting but in my country there are some species to do this. Dove are plague in some farms and in select places there arent limit to hunt. This hunting is realized with shotguns. Argentina have a lot of animals to hunt with small-medium calibers rifles (.223 Rem. to .300 Win. Mag., from varmints to big red deer or wild boar). Anyway, the most common hunting here is do it with shotguns caliber 12, 16 or 20 (hare, rabbits, partridge, duck, dove, capercaillie, etc).
Greetings Nicolas from Argentina

I agree, you should get fine accuracy from the Rem....just take care to keep the action screws/bolt tightened to the same degree..55-65 INCH LBS...with the hex/allen screws try a standard length hex wrench and hold the short end and tighten two fingers tight on the wrench front and rear......I have had good luck with a similar 700 with 55grain bullets and H335/H4895/VV133 and Rem 7 1/2-/Fed/CCI smalll rifle primers ...good luck and good shooting....
