this is an encore barrel so It cannot be set back. Or is there another version of a 221 inproved.

I'm not sure on a T/C barrel . I've told others wanting to do the conversion on rifles to set the barrel back a little to make sure it cleans up. The guys at Virgin Valley or Bullberry may be able to answer your question as they have my prints. The 22 VarTarg is a fantastic and handsome little cartridge if I may say!
