Imperfection in bore or crowning could cause that. Had a customer who swore up and down that his shot great with peep sights but with a 3-9 Leop it wouldn't shoot for shit. Had a little bump about 1cm inside the crown in the groove. It was shooting as well as HE could shoot with iron sights, wasn't the scopes fault. Barrel imperfection. That'd be the first place I'd look. Second would be checking the magazine/feeding to make sure there's no deformation happening there. How does it shoot if you load one round at a time?

i bought a cz royal in 223 this last fall & had a devil of a time getting it to shoot. #1 - bedding. synthetic stock or not CZ/s bedding leaves much to be desired (had to bed the other 3 i own too) Then the only load i could get it to shoot worth a hoot was 24 gr of H335 and a 69 gr nosler. that it handles into about 1"@100 and holds to 2" at 200. I believe thats about all the barrel is capable of.
my target was a joke, horrible. i check the crown today with a scope and it looks as bad as possible i am having it recrowned and will shoot again. Its a shame a company send something like that out. i have had to recrown 4 or 5 rem 700 I just don't understand why they let them go like that

Because people keep buying them because they don't know where to look for the mishap? I've seen CZs that looked like they were WW2 BRNO war production by how they were fit. BUT, they also make some nice rifles for the money. Buyer beware and all that.

after you get it straightened out, try a 50 grain hornady SXSP with 25.2 grains of Benchmark. Please check the manual before using this load as I am at the office and running off my imperfect memory. i have a standard cz527. it had a better test target than the varmint model in the store. it is very accurate.

I have the CZ Varmint in 204. Standard varming though and not the kevlar. I have done nothing at all to it and can get 10 shots in 5/8" regularly. I shoot the 40 grain berger load from HSM. Think I could do better with handloads once I get the time to play.

Gerryb: your CZ 527 Kevlar in .223 has a barrel twist of 1x9. It is intended for the 60, 69 and 70 grain .22 caliber slugs. All of CZs other 527s in .223 have a 1x12 twist barrel meant for the 50 and 55 grain type slugs. Load some .223s up with 69 grain bullets and see what kind of groups your rifle will shoot way, way out there. Tom Purdom
