Any input as to performance? I am interested in an older one with the "boat paddle". Am I correct that they used their heavier barrel on all of these? I had one in 308 several years ago, and it seemed fine. I was surprised how well I liked it. I am not sure I will like the feel of this one, it is definitely different than the short action and lighter barrel. I am hoping it will shoot as good as their other 25-06's I have heard about. Do they have any quirks? I am assuming that I can put the new syn stock on it if I don't like this one. (if I buy it, that is). I am planning on using 100 triple shocks in it almost exclusively for antelope and deer. Thanks, Jeff.

the 25-06 did have a heavier contour 24" barrel on them. I often wished Ruger had used the same on the 30-06. That 25-06 heavy barrel would make a great re-bore for 9.3x62 when it is shot out too.

I have a M77 MII in 25-06. It shoots well with most loads and very well with certain loads. I mostly use it for varmints and predators and have settled on the 75 Grn. Hornady V-max over H4350 w/ CCI BR2 primers. I neck size-only as this does seem to improve accuracy w/ handloads.

Looking to use it for deer next year and think I'll try the 100 Grn. TSX for that load. This rifle doesn't seem to like the 110 Grn. Accubond, I'm still messing around with this one though.

most all of the new rugers I tried had awful triggers; creep, rough spots, travel. I went to the Tikka Lite in 25-06 & never looked back. Trigger smooth & adjustable by YOU to 2 lbs. Bolt throw is a dream. Incredibly accurate right out of the box. weighs 6 1/2 lbs. I was so satisfied I bought one in 243. it is also a shooter.
