Sako 691
is this action any good?

Yes! however I prefer the Sako A and L series. The 691, 591 and 491 all have removable recoil lugs that I don't care for, but it's a great action to build a custom gun.

Dog Hunter, are you certain that it's stainless or is it unfinished (white)? If Sako made the m591 in stainless I have forgotton - Sako is known for distributing uncataloged items. Nonetheless, a left hand m591 action is worth about $450 - $550; however, I have seen them go as low as $250 and as much as $600 - it depends more on what one is willing to pay. I have found that it's usually cheaper to buy the entire rifle unless you get a good deal on just the action.

Dog Hunter, the m591 action was not made until after 1992. In 1975, Sako's medium length action was the L579, a very desirable action.
