| I've never used H1000 in any rifle because it seems like a very oddly-behaving powder. The data I've analyzed indicates that its burning characteristics vary considerably with the size of case and weight of bullet. Some people have had good luck with it, but I shy away.
H-4831 is noticeably slower than IMR-4831 and is actually better suited to the .25-06 than the IMR version, and much better suited than 4350. While I have used H-4831 in my .25-06, I find the slightly slower IMR-7828 a better fit (assuming you are using "game weight" bullets and not sub-100 grain varminters.) The Super Short Cut version of IMR-7828 is a dependable performer and very convenient to use. |

| Tom, I used IMR4831 in my 25-06. It worked great, but seemed to be a little hot with published loads. I was using Nosler's #5 manual and 115 BTs. My rifle was a Sako AV. Lou

| The powders that shoot in my 25-06 are H-4831SC, RL-22, and IMR-7828SSC, all with heavy bullets. These are the 120 grain Speer BT, the 120 grain Sierra, and the 117 grain Sierra. Shot several groups today with 7828, with two 3 shot groups measuring 3/8" at 100 yards, both with the two different Sierra bullets. The 120 grain Speer shot similar groups with H-4831 and RL-22 last week. Don

| Tom, H4831 is Superb in the 25-06. It's the only powder I've used since I obtained a custom gunmaker's accuracy load for my 25 in 1976. I load 52.3g w/ a 120g Nos Par. I have a recovered Partition that literally traveled the FULL length thru a whitetail. Shoots 1/2-3/4 groups in a standard hunting 700 BDL. You will like it! |

| Never seen too many 25-06's that wouldn't shoot 49.0 grains of IMR 4350 and the 117 Sirras real well and by the same token, 53.1 grains of H4831sc behind either 117 Sierras or 120 Hornady HP has been lights out for deer and accurate in several different rifles. 25-06........God's Chosen Caliber! | I agree 100% with Stonecreek, H1000 is a very fincky powder. My results mirror his with this powder. I use RE22 and RE25 in my 25-06 with outstanding results from both. I use 110gr Accubonds exclusively for big game hunting in my 25-06 with RE22, 3348fps. My results with RE25 and 115gr bullets is exceptional, 3267fps with the Nosler Partition and .25-.5MoA. Give these powders a try, you won't be disappointed. |

| I did some preliminary testing with H1000 and 115-120 grain bullets. Accuracy was about the same as with RL22. Didn't check velocity, so cant comment. While it seemed fine, the amount oof shooting was small, so I will withhold judgement until more testing is done. Bottom line is, it will work, just not sure it is the best alternative. |

| Lyman's 48th edition lists H1000 as the most accurate powder in their test rifle with 117 grain jacketed SP at 3038 fps.
I use H1000 with 115 grain Nosler accubond and BT at a chrono'ed 3050-3100. It shoots well for me and gives a little higher load density than some powders. I did not test it again any of the propellants mentioned by others. I had the H1000 in the cabinent for my 300 Win and it's more convenient to have two rifles shooting the same powder. I also got good results with heavy bullets in my 243. |

| Just be careful to make sure your using the right powder and right reloading information.
Years ago my reloading book, a well known one, didn't indicate any difference between H-4831 and IMR-4831. IMR-4831 is, as said above, faster/hotter, and I popped a few primers out of the back of the case using it when loaded to a safe recommendation level of H-4831. That's a lot of hot gases headed your way, and it can surely make an action hard to open Their both good powders, and I use the H-4831 in my 25-06. H-4831 and H-4831sc are both the same powder, just the later is SHORT CUT to meter better. |

| I use RL25 for my 257 WBY, I would think that would work in the 25'06 also. |
