Anybody shooting this rifle in 223 Rem? It has a 1 in 8" twist. How does it shoot (accuracy) and function? Thanks.

Kabluey is down in Texas picking up urr uhh shooting hogs right now. When he comes back I'm sure he can fill you in completely as he uses .223 for almost all his hunting--especially deer hunting.

I have the varmint model with the thicker barrel than the lite. It shoots 55 gr fmj pretty badly. it shoots 55 gr black hills soft points in about 1"-1.5". it shoots prvi partizan 69gr ammo in 3/4". it's hard for me to get the groups though because i had a bad scope, but I'm sure things will tighten up and be more consistant with my new scope and mounts. The best bullets should be 65 - 75 gr for this twist as far as function, it is very smooth. the only issue i ran into that happens sometimes is that the rounds sometimes won't move up in the magazine so, you cycle into an empty chamber. i light tap or a couple cycles of the bolt loosens the rounds and get it working again

Believe if you load some 69gr Sierra MK's w/ RE15 powder, Lake City Brass, Fed primers, you will be pleasantly suprised at the results. 77's or 80's will be equally as accurate at extended ranges, including 600yds. The 80's will require that you single load due to overall length of cartidge. For the dollar spent, the Tikkas are an excellent value from all the ones I have owned/shot.

I have one. The last time I shot it, I put 15 rounds of Federal GM 69gr Sierra MK's inside a one inch square. I shot them 5 at a time loading the clip as fast as I could and shooting the next 5 until all 15 were shot. I also have a Tikka T3 Lite in .300 WM. It's also very accurate. I can't imagine a smoother bolt action out there that doesn't cost substantially more. It may not be much to look at, but I'd say the shot up target more than makes up for lack of the lack of beauty.
