I had the pleasure of shooting about 300 rounds of the 50 grain bullets out of a 22-250 this summer while prairie dog shooting. They were absolutly wonderful, I called Barnes for some loading info and was told to follow the VLC load info and reduce 10 percent. They grouped very nicely out of a remington 700 VLS. Just got a 223 this week so the load development will be forthcoming.

I have used both the 40gr and 50gr Varminators (what a name!). They seem to be a very good bullet for the money, as they are available in a 250 pack for about $21, and shoot so close in accuracy to Vmax and Matchkings as to be insignificant in the field.
Cannot testify as to their use on anything bigger than a crow.
Most of my loads in a 223 have been using Benchmark.
