I posted this over at the Campfire, figured I'd give you guys a shot at it too. I'm cutting/pasting the original post from the Grendel forum where he made his case.

So I sent the idea to one of Barnes R&D folks, asking about the prospects of getting a Barnes hunting bullet specifically made for the Grendel.

What I was thinking was basing it off the 6.5mm 127gr LRX (BC of .468), re-profiling the nose to a more secant ogive, while keeping the tangent ogive from the bearing surface, reducing the weight to anywhere between 100-115gr, or whatever will keep the BC closer to .400 for G1, and giving us a little more case capacity.

What's nice about the LRX is a 1600fps expansion threshold, so a 100-115gr pill engineered to give us the most case capacity from the Grendel, with great accuracy and aerodynamic features might be of interest to us.

Barnes R&D has already told me it's totally doable, but will require enough demand to justify it to the marketing department. It will basically extend the effective range of the 100gr TTSX class bullet, which was designed with the 6.5 Swede and .260 Remington in mind. If we profiled it for the Grendel, it would benefit all of the 6.5's.

I like it. They would scream outa my 260 and reach out better than the 100 TTSX.

Would anybody else purchase these if Barnes makes em? They said they would be expanding the LRX line. This way they can improve on the 100 TTSX for general use and at the same time include the Grendel crowd.

Don't know how much it'll raise the BC over the 100 TTSX but here's a couple examples of other Grendel ogive bullets.

The ogive on the 120 A-Max was too blunt for the Grendel so Hornady made the 123 A-Max for them. The 120s BC is .465, the 123s BC is .510 from Hornadys site.

Same story for the 120 SMK so Sierra made the 123 SMK for them. The 120s BC is .417, the 123s BC is .510 from Sierra's site. Typo maybe? .417 sounds a bit low to me but...

The Grendel fellas are looking for the best combination of weight(for velocity) and BC. I gather they are depending on Barnes to help decide what that compromise weight is.

I'm for 100-107 or 108 myself. The 100 TTSX which should be similarly constructed to this LRX is a great weight for a tough mono bullet and very tough to stop. Personally I'd like to see a range of high BC hunting bullets in target bullet profiles like the 107 SMK and 108 Scenar. IMO Berger has shown that target profile bullets that are built for hunting sell, the high BC naturally is a plus and trendy apparently.

I have looked at you 95gn GSC bullet a few times Gerard but am trialing the 100gn TTSX just now and it runs at 2925 from the 21in barrel of my 6.5 Grendel Max.
