Are factory Savage that bad?

I just purchase a Savage HS FCP in 338 Lapua!

I haven't shot it yet due to the weather.

Barrel update:

I swapped to the CCI BR-2 primer to try and see if I close groups up some, and when I did everything fell apart. All of a sudden it went to shooting 2.5" vertically strung groups @ 200 yards. Didn't have a chance to mess with it for a few weeks, but had a beautiful day to shoot today, so I drug it back out.

Bottom line, I swapped primers back and tweaked the action screws a bit, and the rifle is now driving nails. I shot 2 groups (three shot) @ 200 yards, the one with the 130 Berger VLD's went into .514, and the one with the 140 SGK went into .855, so I am pretty happy at this point. Under 1/2 MOA with two different loads at 200, that will work for an extended range whitetail rifle.

Barrel cleans real well too, overall I am very satisfied with it.
