Your description sounds like the "varmint" barrel model. I have one in .243, and it's a ringer. Browning actually chambered the .22-250 in their Safari BEFORE it was made a factory-produced cartridge by Remington. In other words, the gun you are looking at, depending on its date of manufacture, may have been built as a factory-chambered wildcat. In mint to excellent condition, and with a good Lyman scope mounted, $925 would seem an attractive price to the buyer.

This is actually a Sako L579 action without the dovetail scope mounting rails, barreled and stocked by Browning. They are great rifles and quite collectable in good condition.Browning did chamber the 22-250 before Remington made it a factory cartridge in 1965.

Rembo: The other minor difference in the Browning action and the Sako is that the Browning bolt handle is bright instead of blued, and the floor plate is engraved with gold leaf (similar to the Sako Deluxe action, but in a different pattern). You say that the barrel is by Browning. I've always wondered about this, and whether the entire barreled action was supplied by Sako or just the action. Do you have any definative references on the subject?
