After Doing a bit of research on a new gun to save up for and purchase I've finally settled on the .17 Mach IV. For a rifle - the contender for its versatility in low calibers. Scope - most likely Simmons Aetec 3.8-12x44 AO/WA

Can anybody tell me most of all where i can get a bled/walnut contender carbine frame thats less than $250?

also if anyone would like to recommend a scope that i can get for less than $150 and still not sacrifice much in quality that starts at 3 or 4x, goes to at least 12x and has a objective lens less than 50mm with a focusing objective or parrallax adjustment?

all the help is greatly appreciated.

Wildcat, T/C frames come up occasionally on auction sites and classified sections, but I recommend you scour the gun shows for a used T/C Carbine.
I saw one at the Harrisburg (PA) show for $310 (.223Rem.). You could sell the barrel it comes with, and reduce your investment significantly.
As for a scope, Natchez is closing out the Redfield Partner 3x-12x44mm scopes for $99.

Who's making your .17 Mach IV barrel?

Midway had a sale on the 6.5-20 AO 44 mag for $89.99, I ordered one and it was very clear. Ed's T/C's sells new blue frames and walnut stocks for around $275.00 or $295.00 I believe. Does New York require a spent shell fired from a pistol to accompany it, if so, I don't know how that would work since the same frame can be used for pistol or rifle?

Dennis,
The requirement for a spent shell and ballistic fingerprint is only for new handguns shipped into the state by manufacturers.

Thanks guys - helps me get an idea at least. i can get the frame i want somewhat locally for $245 - however getting one at a show used wouldn't be against my religion.

info on the scopes is good too - however the reason i want to start at either 3 or 4 power for any close up coyote shots.

i can get the scope i mentioned for 141 at the same place i'll get the barrel. the reason i want it is it has an exceptional FOV @ 100 yds. (33-11)ft.

the barrel i will get at www.eabco.com (Eben Aurthur Brown Company) It's actually made by Thompson center specifically for the contender or encore according to them.

Why not the Encore, stronger and almost identical.

Really only one reason - Encore wont shoot .22 LR unless you use the .223 barrel with an adapter and thats a pain. - especially if you want it chambered in .22 LR Target (one of my favorite things to do - competition at 50 ft. with a light rifle - match grade competition comes in second)

besides - i don't need the big calibers any time soon. currently in my part of ny it is illegal to hunt deer with a rifle - pistols in rifle calibers are fine but not rifles.
