Hey there Mark. It is truly a rat spreader on goph's and p-dogs, on chucks it's like flipping a switch, they just stop! Sure a great hide gun. Ole Rob over there is a great guy, great to deal with. See ya.

Hello montdoug, Congratulations. Now the heartache begins as the song says. I have a Remington 700BDL in .17Rem. It's a contrary cuss. Oh it'll shoot - whenever in hell it feels like it. It's common to get a .4" group (5 at 100yds.) preceded or followed by a 1.3" group. These are good, accurate handloads, fired from a bench in near perfect wind conditions. If fouls something fierce. I'm thinking of changing my handle to the "Copper King." Actually I like the caliber quite a bit. It's a fun gun to own and shoot. It's especially nice being able to see the bullets strike home (or wherever they decide to strike). If you have a heavy barrel on your CZ so much the better. I don't. It has certainly taught me humility. Best wishes. Cal - Montreal

Have you had a chance to shoot it yet?? I'm ichin to get a 17 Rem and I was looking at a 700 Bdl but the CZ's interest me, I've never seen one, but I have a love for the Pre 64 win. actions. Is the CZ as smooth and tight as the pre win's?? Is your the 17 Varmint or the 527??

Hello montdoug, Here's your chance guy. Don't blow it. More women would shoot I think if it weren't for recoil. My wife used to go to the range with me. She loved shooting my .22's and .22Magnum. However when I put that Ruger Blackhawk in .357Mag. in her hands and said, "Here honey try this." " Kick? No, it's a pussycat." She fired one shot, looked at me in disbelief and said, "Take this gun before I drop it in the sand." That was many year ago, and I still regret it. I lost a good shooting buddy. However, when you tell her that .17Rem. doesn't kick, you'll be on safe ground. You may never get it back from her. At least she won't be tempted to drop it in the sand! Best wishes. MOntdoug-stop in some time don't be a stranger...I can harass you a bit about them lil guns. Honestly I've shot them enough to know what you're talking about them just going to sleep though. I love em on goph's and pds' but except for a occaisional chuck drive by I use something substancially larger for all my chucks shooting anymore. I start with a 6/06 and go up from there-I want to see some acrobatics........ "GET TO THE HILL" Dogz ps I saw went down and saw Rob today--came home with a 22/250 for Anita-it is love at first sight for her.

Montdoug: Good luck with your new CZ Rifle. The 17 Remington is one of my favorite cartridges! I have a couple 17 Remingtons now - one is a Remington 700 Classic and the other is an all stainless Remington 700 VSS Varminter with the 26" heavy Remington factory barrel. Both of my Rifles shoot the wonderful Berger 25 gr. MEF bullets really well! These bullets are also sensational lethality wise on all manner of Varmints. I now use the Remington 7 1/2 primers in both Rifles. I have forgotten why I switched from my universally used in small Rifle calibers Federal 205M's to the Remington 7 1/2's. I should have made note of why I changed in my loading log! But I didn't. My loading log does show that the last two groups I fired from the limited run edition Remington 700 VSS gave me two 5 shot groups (in what I noted as terrible conditions 12+ MPH wind) of .413" and .598"! Speed kills (wind deflection also)! Good luck with your new 17 Remington and be sure to try the Berger 25's! I know how those Rifles just seem to get out of the store (or Gunshow) and into your car ALL BY THEMSELVES! Its uncanny! Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

bearcat, I really haven't wrung it out yet, don't have the weather for it. Did a thorough break in and am waiting for dies. I did get a box of factory, 1st 3 went into about a .235ish triangle so I bore down on er and started a seperate group for the last 2 that opened it up to about a .565ish 5 shot(I hate it when that happens) but it looks like it ought to shoot. It's getting bedded now, they say they are epoxy bedded, but epoxy must be awful spendy over there cause it looks like two little tiny pieces one in each corner of the recoil lug channel Cal I'm way ahead of you on the wife deal, my wife's one of my best shooting and hunting buddies. And yes it does cost a guy a few firearms when she falls in love with one (Clarked up 10-22, Slab Side Ruger with Volquartzen trigger and Bowen small game sight, Anschutz 1730 Meister grade .22 Hornet, Cooper .17 Mach IV, she's scomped on to all of em) but all of em are gopher smuckers and she only claims em when were shooting together. Besides it's a good excuse to buy more guns and furthermore they all sleep in the same safe. VarmintGuy, I thought about ya the other day, I was in Bob Wards and they had one of the new .17 HMR Smiths. This one had rifling, I checked. How's that deal progressing? By the way what powder do you favor with your .17 Rems? I used Benchmark to break it in but only cause it meters easy and I have a bunch of it. I think I'll try Varget first for load development, I hear good things about it. I do indeed have the 25 Bergers and have 30 Bergers on order in fact I've got all the 20 22 and 25 Bergers to try but I must admit it sure woul be nice if it liked some cheap ole Hornadys. The 7 1/2 BR's my favorite as well, and I remember why the price on the 205 M's went through the roof and in most of my guns they don't shoot any better than the Remingtons. Looking forward to spring.
