I have only tried one handload in mine and it went about 3/4 moa. It was with a 55 sierra blitzking, I don't remember the powder charge, It shoots winchester 45grn white box ammo into .5 moa average for 5 shoots, also shoots blackhills 52grn match almost as good, with it shooting like that I haven't worried about making any loads. in times when one needs a rifle, he tends to need it very badly.....PHC

Give us an idea of bullet weights you are interested in. I do a lot of loading for 223s. If their is a powder or bullet weight you are most interested in, that is important. Different powders perform better with some bullet weights than others. 223s are normally not that finicky unless you are looking for a benchrest style load. All of my 223's will are definitely minute of prairie dog or ground squirrel to 250 to 300 yds when I do my part.

I have a 527 American with the sporter barrel. It likes 27 gr of H-335 with the 50 gr Speer TNT or Nosler Ballistic Tip. It likes 28 gr of the same powder with the 40 gr Ballistic Tip or V-Max, which shoot the same in my rifle. I use one grain more of W-748 with the same bullets and it likes those, too. 25 gr of BL(C)-2 works well under a 60 gr Nosler Partition for larger game. All of these loads are in Federal cases, and I like to use a mag primer with these ball powders.

divr6347: I have a 527 in 223, and if it wasn't for this darn Ruger 77 220 Swift heavy barrel I have, it would be my most accurate rifle. Mine likes either the Sierra 52 Grain HP, or the 53Grain Hp, over top of 24.8 grains of IMR3031. Shoots 3 shot groups in the 3's. Jerry NRA Benefactor Life Member

i've used 26 gr of H335 and a 55 gr nosler BT for years. If the rifle didn't shoot it well I traded off the gun.

Try 24 grains of Varget, pushing just about anything. I use Sierra 53 gr MKs and Nosler 55 gr Ballistic Tips for paper & groundhogs, up to 80 gr SMKs for High Power. Believe it or not, I shoot the same powder behind all of them.

hey guys thanks for the suggestions i think i like the varget powder idea and i think im going to try sone 55 gr nosler bt s and some 55 gr v max s i was thinking also about trying some reloader 15 but i dont want to try too much all at once i have not tried 40 gr bullets of any kind in my rifle so maybe i will see if it likes those at all i do know that black hills 52 gr match ammo doesnt shoot worth a damn in it and the 55 gr winchester white box stuff will shoot right at 1 inch so i guess ill try the above and see where i get from there thanks guys divr6347

Varget powder is an excellent choice. In my .223's I use 27 gr. Varget with 53 grain Sierra match for paper and 55 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip for varmints. Commercial brass and match primer of your choice. 69 grain Sierra Match King and 25 grain of Varget if you want to try a heavy bullet for paper.

I own six .223 rifles in barrel lengths from 20-26" and every one of them loves the Speer 50 Gr TNT in front of 27.5 Gr BL(C)-2 However I've also tested H-335, Win 748, and other ball powders with good success.....If I didn't have a Dillon 650 set up to load this little round I'd like Varget....but the ball powders are so great to load in progressive presses.....if I loaded them 20-50 at a time and weighed all the charges I'd certainly use varget. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." My CZ Varmint Laminate shoots a lot of things well, but it's flat out favorite is the 40 grain Sierra BlitzKing. It's favorite load is 27.5 grains of Benchmark in a Federal Gold case with a Fed 205M primer and 40 BlitzKing for 3,750ish and bug hole groups. 40 V-Max's shoot to the exact same point of impact in that load but the jackets a little thicker on the Sierra so I save the V-Max's for my Hornets. Interestingly enough in the April 2003 issue of "Shooting Times" they tested the HS Precision stocked version of this rifle, it's most accurate load was the 40 V-Max. That's odd cause these rifles have a 1 in 9 twist and you'd think the heavier bullets would be more accurate, not so in mine nor the one tested in the magazine. Cz's just raised their price as of the first of the year, knowing that in advance I bought a HS Precision version as well to use as a platform for a .20 caliber project I'm fixing to do, I'm thinkin I might shoot it as a .223 before pulling the barrel to see if it prefers the 40's as well.
