Tried this on 'reloading' and got no response.... I'm curious as to what kind of velocities other 6.5x06 shooters are getting with 140/142 class of bullets? I'll be getting mine with a 26" Krieger tube back soon... Roger

My 24" 1-9 twist barrel averages 2942 with 140's and slightly higher with 142's (a different load). You will probably beat that by about 40 fps or so. Good Luck! John

I have no experience with the 6.5/06, but from my work with both .264 Winchester and 6.5 Remington Magnum, I would say that J. P.'s results are pretty close to what you should expect. Anything over 3000 fps in this cartridge is likely to be the result of unaccepably high pressures. Given the case size, expansion ratio, and similar sectional density, a 142 grain bullet from this cartridge should reach a similar velocity as a 150 grainer from a .270 -- again 3000 or so is going to be about tops.

I shoot the 142 in my 6.5-06AI, 26 inch barrel, 1-8 twist. Best accuracy is a velocity of 3050. I have gotten a little over 3100, but the groups looked like a shotgun pattern. I haven't played with the 140's much so I haven't developed a good load yet. I generally do all my load development during hot weather so I will start my next project in about 3 months which is to see if I can make the 155 smk shoot as well as the 142's. Pecos
