Just FYI, the new Barnes Tipped Triple Shock 120gr. 6.5mm (.264) bullets are in stock at Barnes as of today . For now, you'll need to call the factory to order as they haven't sent any out to dealers yet. Antelope, watch out !

Those Lopes wearing Kevlar now? Should be a NICE bullet if accuracy there, that might be the ticket for say a 6.5x47 or any mid sized 6.5's. VERY happy right now using 130 accubonds, but a mono bullet should better it in penetration. Always wonder about expansion when you/IF you needed to reach WAY out there when using a Barnes. Talking over 400 yds. I know many long distance hunters use amax, bergers, etc. that take advantage of higher BCs and retained speed, as well as softer construction that ensures expansion at longer ranges. The TTSX as Swifts both have a good niche, no doubt. Thanks for the heads up.

I've been using 120 grain Northforks and find them to be a superb bullet in the 3,000 FPS class but the recent 50% price increase lets me think this new Barnes bullet might be "just the ticket" /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Vapo, I'm looking forward to trying the 140 Northfork for mule deer and perhaps elk in my new .264 Win Mag (still being built). They apparently haven't run any of the smaller calibers yet, tho. Right now, if the accuracy is there, I'm hoping to use the 120 TTSX for goats and perhaps the Scirocco II 130's for deer. It just depends on what the rifle likes. You're right, the Northfork price increase hurt. But then, I did stash a few boxes of .416's last year .

I wouldn't overlook the 140 A-Frames however.....I've had great success with A-Frames /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." a 120 grain ballistic tip or a 125 partition has always been more than up to the task of anything I ever asked of it..... In fact so has any 100 grain bullet I've used in a 6.5 mm... Earlier when I posted, I thought, you know-never heard of any 6.5 bullet combo not working well on deer sized game other than perhaps the 85 and 90 grains....w/shot placement they'd work, but you are right Seafire. 100s work well, the Hornady and Noslers maybe best, but just about any 120 up w/shot placement and some expansion is going to make a deer's last day.

Good news, Andy. I'll get some of the NF 140's and give them a try. Nothing I've found works as well in big calibers as the NF. I was fortunate enough to take both buffalo and elephant with Northfork CPS and FPS last year in Zim. I can't help but think that 140 would be decent elk medicine. Are you gearing that bullet toward larger game? I know Mike had specific applications in mind for each bullet he produced. Oh, and Welcome to AR, Andy. Hope you hang around here and provide lots of input. Best of luck with the 'new' Northfork to all of you!

Andy, I consider the Northfork to be a superb bullet.....well designed and they just work! That said the A-Frame is equal at least to the Northfork and quite a bit less costly.....they are also readily available..... You have to compete to sell the product and IMO A-Frames are your competition.....possibly nobody else! Given a "December discount" doesn't really count for much as I probably have to buy them to replace what I used in the future..... I really don't think you'll sell the product at the current prices. TBBCs are way over priced and I don't buy them either as they also aren't better than A-Frames!..... /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Alan, do stop in and pick up a box. I'm really anxious to hear some experiences with them. It'll be a while before my rifle's ready so I'll live vicariously through others .

Done! Did it! Got em! Pretty! I called Brenda, she said "sure, stop on by". I gave her a copy of my FFL and she charged my cc, gave me a new Barnes "Bullet myths Busted" dvd and brochure. Took a looksie around at the life size mounts. Randy walked by but was busy. Their moving their plant an hour south to Nephi in about 3 months. Darn! Then I won't be able to stop by and do what I did today. When I get home tonight, I try and take a few pics of the ttsx sitting next to the 120 and 130 TSX and post them. I doubt I'll be able to shoot them this weekend due to the incoming snow storm. Even if that wasn't the issue, I just finished loading up my 100 Nosler cases this am for round two. Alan

Here they are. Sorry for the pic quality. My little Kodak CX 4200 sucks when it comes to up and close and personal. For thouse of you who don't know (yeah, right. you're are visiting the "small caliber" page), left to right. 120 bt, 120 ttsx, 130 flat base. Barnes tech, named Dave, says they have yet to test for bc but he feels it will be a bit over .400. He is very impressed with the accuracy of all the ttsx's.

The weather cooperated yesterday and it turned out I had 3 unloaded Nosler cases. So, I loaded up 45.5 gr of H4350 and punched a 3-shot .95" group @ 100 yds with it. The av velocity was 3019 from my 24" barrel. Their was a bit of an extractor mark so I'm backing off 1/2 gr. This same load gave zero pressure for the standard 120 tsx. The Barnes tech said I should be able to use the same tsx data for the Ttsx.

GSSP, I didn't notice that you ever specified a chambering that you are working with? Am trying to figure out about what the charges should be for a .264 Win Mag ... and your 45.5 gr of H4350 doesn't look quite right for that cartridge. Which one you using? Thank you very much for a clarification! Mike -------------- DRSS, Womper's Club, NRA Life Member/Charter Member NRA Golden Eagles ... Knifemaker, http://www.mstarling.com
