Has anyone here shot much of this powder? Especially in a 223. How accurate is it? What tendencies does it have? Thanks.

Can't speak of the 223, but is does very clever things in my 222rem. 23.7grs with a 50gr BT. Very nice.

Very accurate in mine and faster than expected velocities with under-max loads. Good load density.
748 use to be my go to .223 powder, now it's BenchMark.

It's been very accurate in 5 different 223s with 50 and 55 gr. bullets for me.

i think it is the best powder out there in the 50 to 55 grain range for 223. i shoot it in a cz 527 with hornady sxsp 50 grainers and shoot right at 1/2 inch. a buddy of mine shoots it with 55 grain vmax bullets out of an old sako. i won't even say what kind of groups he gets, but they are better than mine. 748 is my next best powder.

Benchmark was my "go-to" powder for my .222 rem and is currently the front runner for my AR15 with light (50 gr) bullets. As far as tendencies, Benchmark tends to meter well, burn clean, not vary with temperature, and propel bullets on top of one another.

Benchmark was my no 1 foxload in .223 remmington heavy barrel VS, only recently surpassed by Vit N133 in a Tikka M595 .223, I still hold two cans just as stock wave

I use it behind 65 grainers in my fast twist .223. Excellent powder insensitive to temperature changes.

Benchmark is THE best powder for my 22-250 with 55 grain bullets.
Friends tell me it is excellent in the 223, but I haven't tried any loads with it in this rifle.
I do plan on trying it this summer.
H-4895 is my go-to powder in the 223, and I just loaded up some TAC loads to try. Next will be Benchmark. It flows so great thru the measure too..

Benchmark is the only powder I use in two different 20in barreled .223's. I have a 1-12 and a 1-9 that I shoot up to 69SMK and all I use is Benchmark. My 1-12 absolutely loves 40 Sierra BK's and 27.3grains of Benchmark with a 2.26oal. Will shoot .3 without really trying hard. My LTR likes 23.4 grains with the 69SMK.

Henry,

I think you'll be happy with the Benchmark loads for the 223.
There are guys over on 24 Hour who use it and love it, for the 223.
The accuracy I got with it in my 22-250 were nothing short of amazing, with three shots into a 1/4" group at 100 yards. This with a regular sporter too. I did use a Leupold 36x scope to shoot the group. Using high power scopes for load developing is a hold over from my benchrest shooting days. But, the group speaks for itself.
I've had four different 22-250's over the years, and none on them ever came close to that kind of accuracy.
So, I have a two pounds of Benchmark rat holed.

Don

I was using Benchmark in a CZ 527 varmint w/ 40gr Noslers. Very accurate. I could not put too much powder in the case. The gun loved it with as much as I could stuff in there. Never had a single indicator of excess pressure. If I could have gotten more in there I would have tried. It didn't seem to matter what the weather was like. It just seemed to have a very large tuning window.

Matt.

Benchmark is one of several good powders for the 223.
Try the load below and see what it does in your 223.
Was shooting up some old reloads that I had used for testing last tuesday and had 8 of this load all 8 went into one little hole at 100 yds.

The target on the left was with a new firet time at the range Rem 22/250 sps
