Does any one have an accurate one?
I shoot the hell out of mine, scope or not it is embarrasing to put on paper.I bought it when
Clinton was elected the second time.
It is a stainless 186 series it shoots good
enough but at 50 yards every .22 long rifle I
own will out shoot it.I have tried all brands of ammo and even reloaded for it.
Are they just not an accurate rifle? bewildered

You hit the nail on the head and answered your own question. The other really bad part is without a truckload of money to competely remanufacture it from scratch it won't get any better. Accuracy and mini-14's just don't go together.

I am sure a bunch on mini-14 fans are going to rush to the defense, but I would rather have a Russian Nagant.

I've got one that will shoot good with almost any ammo. They can be accurate but not like an AR. Its the first gun I grab when the neighbors dogs are running my cattle. Last week I took out 4 before they could run off. I primarily shoot reloads in mine. I am not going to tell you that the Mini 14 will win any matches but mine seems to be fairly accurate. I on the other hand wouldn't rather have a nagant, even though I build nagant parts for a parts supplier. Big Grin

I have sold many rifles over the years my mini-14 was not missed. If you really like the cartridge get a good AR, these are accurate.

Actually I would rather have 5 Nagants the Rugers ain't cheap anymore.

You might find some good deals on them though, my nieghbor is an armorer for the IHP, the state bean counters forced the IHP to buy these a few years ago, and after a couple of years of fixing them constantly they just dumped them for a song.

Edit: After ownership I just can't get excited about mini-14, the one I had sits on a short list of the three worst rifles I ever owned.

Mine shoots a 3" group at 100 yds, at 50 yds it shoots 1/2" with a flier. Will try 150 yds this summer. I reload mine with W748 and shoot the fmj 55gr bullets. Good shooting to you.

After owning 5 or 6 of the pattern shooters I finally had one re-barreled. It shoots damn good now. The downside is that I have over a grand in it. Some people have had decent luck loading the winchester 64 grain power point bullet. If you reload you may want to give them a try.

Mine shoots MOA and better but only after I had ARS perform their magic on it. Now it suits what I want in a duty rifle without looking like something the military uses. And it did cost me any more than a similarly equipped AR. Lawdog

Nobody rushing to the defense!

All I can say about mine is it is RELIABLE. thumb

For a war rifle it would probablly work.

Mine always hits close but not close enough
for a cigar.
I have managed to kill a few deer with it but
I am not willing to put any money in it though.
