hi.
i visited a newly started gunshop in my neighbour town today.

when i saw this .22lr with a very nice price tag:
http://www.savagearms.com/markiig.htm

i'm looking for a reliable, rugged gun that can take some beating.
as far as accuracy is concerned, it should put 3shots within 2-3moa.

but what made me reluctant was this accutrigger, is it any good?

experience/thoughts would be appreciated, both regarding the accutrigger and the rifle in general.

(i'm soon starting to gather my worldwide hunting battery, and i thought a rimfire has it's place).

A rimfire certainly has a place in a rifle battery IMO.

I don't have that particular cartridge but the exact same rifle although in 17HMR.

It was a fantastic buy for the money (your consideration), is wonderfully accurate, much better than 2-3moa, more like <1moa) and the Accu-Trigger is wonderful!

Cheers,

The Accutrigger not only provides an adjustable trigger pull, it is also very safe. The rifle will not fire unless the trigger is pulled, even if the trigger is set on its lightest weight and the rifle is dropped butt first from a tree stand. The Savage is not a pretty rifle (unless you buy the Classic, which costs more) but it is a very good rifle.

Steffen,
I have a Savage with Bull barrel and plastic stock.
It also has the Accutrigger.

I like it. While some will say that it's not the best trigger or not as good as the aftermarket Rifle Basix trigger it't still good. A huge improvement over the old style Savage trigger.

As for accuracy, with ammo that it likes it's sub MOA. Mine likes Remington SubSonic's and Wolf Target the best.

For economy it'd be hard to beat.

I have a Savage non-Accutrigger and it will out-shoot all my buddies' other 22s. I use SK Standard Plus ammo (its the same as Wolf match ammo) and my Savage just loves it. Smiler

Everything I say is fully substantiated by my own opinion.

I just bought the Savage MK II classic Limited. It has great wood on it (which you pay for) and on my first trip to the range It cut a hole with 4 outta 5 shots at 50 yds with CCI stingers. I'm more than pleased.
