I just got a PS-90. I'm sure the reason is 50% neat-o value and 50% engineering marval. It's a very cool gun but from what I can see also one of the most expensive .22 Magnum "wanna-be's" out there. certainly not a target gun or varmint or hunting or even a truck gun. I'd use it as a PDW the same way I'd use a 10/22 (not at all). So I guess the question is: Can a practical use for this gun be found? The patent for the magazine (Neatest thing ever) expires in 2010 so I expect some VERY well designed .22 rimfires to be built.

I haven't shot it much and the reloading equipment is on order. The current crop of factory (FN) 40 grain V-max is going for $20 USD per 50, so it's not too much worse than the 17 HMR.

My $0.02, I will post more as I know more.

Before the inport ban of the early factory penetrator bullets my good friend was using one on hog head shots with great effect (he doesn't handload)

I just had to have one of these when they were first announced, I bought magazines, ammo and even an FN5.7 pistol. After shooting the pistol a bit and discovering that the 40gr factory ammo would not knock over the 8" falling metal plates at 11 yards, I sold everything.

Nice guns, engineering marvels, fun to shoot, but not real fighting weapons.

I thought about getting one of these, but I was worried about reloading for it. Can you find a good price on plinking bullets for these?

The other nice thing about them is the drop the shells down by your feet, not scattered everywhere when it comes to re-using the brass.

Let me know how it shoots so I can live vicariously through you!

I killed a couple of groundhogs with my PS90. Did fine. I don't have dies. It is a fun rifle.

The shells at your feet is a great feature. I've recovered 149 out of 150 fired. The gun is truly ambidextrous. I have dies on order and some 35-55 grain bullets ready for reloading. All the data (that I can find) is for the pistol so I'm going to experiment a bit and see what I can do with a 16" barrel. I have some ss109's at 66 grains I'm not sure what to expect but that's the fun of playing around a bit. I'm sure a slower powder is called for.

followed this round with interest when it first came out...Brownells and Midway were selling barrels threaded for Remington actions for this round as a varmint set up....

they didn't sell well at all...

finally I watched the price drop dramatically to just to get rid of them...

I am sure most of the barrels and kits they sold, were so someone could get a barrel cheap, and rechamber it to something else they wanted...

I saw that too. This round is a centerfire .22 magnum. I'm sure the orientation of the 50 round magazine dictated the diameter and OAL of the cartridge. The dies and (25 Auto) shell holder come in tomorrow. Other than use in this particular gun I can't see a reason. As a zero recoil plinker it's a LOT of fun and the OAL of the gun makes it suitable as a "truck gun" where a pistol might not be prudent...
