Hi guys, just wonted to send some picks of my newest toy!
It’s a Sako 75 Hunter in 25-06 and the scope is Zeiss Victory Diavari 3-12x56. clap
I’m really looking forward to try it out.
Any suggestion on a good load for 100 gr. Nosler BT or 110 gr. Accubond ?

Thanks,
Ingvar Johann

Try 100gr Ballistic Tips with 52 to 53 grains of IMR-4350. Never saw a 25\06 that did not perform well in that load range. 115s work well with 54gr of IMR-7828.

Beautiful rifle!!

What is the word I am looking for here...

.... Oh I know:

SWEET!!

I got a Tikka T3 that is enjoying the Accubond over 54.5grns of H4831. Tried RE22 and it puked like a baby eating strained squash. Also tried IMR4350 with a little better luck. Will be trying IMR4831 next!

My .25-06 is a heavy varmint and it's favorite load is using the 100 grain Sierra BT in an IMI .30-06 case reformed and uses IMR 4831 with a 91/2 Rem mag primer.
Nice looking rifle.

I have been having good luck w/ R22 under the ABs. With the 115 NBTs I had good luck w/ IMR7828.

I haven't done much load development in my current 25-06 but, I intend to get a good bit done this spring. My last couple of groups were ok w/ the 110 ABs:

I think if you try R22, 7828, and H4831 that you should stumble onto something that works in your rifle.

Good Luck

I snagged a winchester 70 25-06 new last fall after the plant closed. It's got a cheap scope but I have grouped it at 3/4" so far. I bet you'll like yours too.

Ingvar J. Kristjansson: Great looking outfit you have there!
Please let us know how it shoots when you get it tested!
I have owned three 25/06 Remington Rifles over the decades and all of them were rather accurate.
My latest 25/06 is a Remington 700 SS-DBM model with a Leupold 4.5X14 variable scope on it!
This Rifle has taken Whitetailed Deer, Mule Deer, Antelope, Coyote and some other Varmints as well.
I wish I had a current loading to suggest for you but this particular Rifle shoots Remington factory 25/06 ammo into such small groups I have just kept using them!
The ammo I happened upon is the Remington 100 gr. PSP (pointed soft point) variety. I at first bought this ammo to be used for simply "fireforming" some brass and barrel break-in!
Again it shot so well and is so lethal on medium size Big Game I just kept adding a box or two each year to my ammo locker!
My oldest son used this Rifle/scope combination a couple years ago to kill an Antelope (one shot!) at a lasered 400 yards! The sightin, for dead on, was out at 250 yards IIRC and the VarmintSon held just over the top of the big Bucks back to heart/lung shoot him!
Anyway this leads me to ask what kind of game are you going to be Hunting with your beautiful Sako 25/06 Rifle?
I must admit my ignorance here, but, are there game animals in Iceland for you to Hunt?
Again forgive my ignorance of your homeland Hunting opportunities.
If you ever need, or just want to try some factory ammo I highly recommend the Remington 100 gr. PSP ammo.
Long live the 25/06!
Hold into the wind

I’ll be using this rifle mostly for hunting Caribou/Reindeer (with 100-120 gr. bullets) and Artic Fox (with 85-100 gr. bullets). I think this caliber is ideal for these purposes. Big Grin

Excelent rifle !
Excelent cartridge. My 25,06 had me frustrated for along time. I had one bullet it like, (sierra 117 grain BT) And was real good with H-4831.
But I tried many of the slower powders Like RL-22 and 25, H-4831 and IMR-7828.
None of those powders would work well with any bullet except the sierra 117 BT.
To really piss me off, When I replaced the old box of sierras, I discoverd the bullet had been changed and I went from .5 inch group to
2 inches.
But the good news is I decided to try some faster powders, and I am happy to report that I am under MOA with most any bullet, I feed it, with either IMR-4350, or RL-19.
I just mounted a Nikkon Buckmaster 4.5X14 side focus on her.
The rifle is a custom ,on a MK10 action 26 inch sporter weight Douglas premium barrel,
Timney trigger and a boyds laminated thumbhole stock.

Nice rig! I have a Sako Long Range Hunter in 25-06 with a 4.5 x 14 Leupold. I shoot 90 gr. Sierra boattails with 57 gr. of H4831 and fed. 210 M primers. This is one of my most accurate rifle / load combinations with groups at 100 yds. in the .375" to .75 all day every day. 54 gr. of the same powder with a 115 gr. Partition is my hunting load, around .75" consistantly. Try some H4831 your rifle might like it!
Good Luck,
Nimrod 308
