I think you know you don't need a new barrel, just ream the one you have to 6mm AI. As far as using it as a repeater, alot depends on the action. Is it a remington. A push feed short action in 6mm AI could give you some feeding trouble , but a good smith should be able to get it to work. Using different bullets and playing around with seating depth I would bet you would find a good combo that would at least feed the 1st 2 ...tj3006 freedom1st

I have not had any real feeding issues with the 244 AI( 6mm Improved) in the 700 short action. I seemms to feed better than the 243AI. I am not a fan of rechambering factory barrels. www.duanesguns.com

To do it correctly you need to set the barrel back and rechamber. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

All AI cartridges should have a slight crush fit to properly set headspace. You should feel a little resistance when chambering a round the last 1/3 of bolt travel.

I picked up my finished 6mm AI rebarrel on Monday and took it to the range for the first time today. The rifle is an old Remington 700 6mm Rem that I bought 40 years ago. I still want a light weight sporter, so I picked a take off .243 24" sporter barrel. I hope this works out, if not I will be buyimg a new SS barrel. I was just fireforming cases today using max 100 gr. 6mm Rem reloads @ 25 yards. I chronographed some and was getting 70 fps higher than in the old 6mm Rem!! Strange, but I guess adding 2" to barrel length means a lot for this cartridge.

If you are comparing 2 different barrels I've had 2 barrels the same length show that much difference. As usual just my $.02 Paul K
