when fireforming rimless cases in a push feed rifle like a rem. 700 or model 7 by seating the bullet out and jamming it into the lands, doesn't the plunger on the bolt face prevent the case from being up against the bolt face? seems like a lot of spring tension to overcome. thanks, dave. | |||

Your brass will form better if you remove the ejector button spring. There will also be an increase in accuracy potential. www.duanesguns.com | |||

Quote: correct me if i'm wrong but when you form new brass in an a.i. chamber some part of the factory brass,s shoulder headspaces someplace on the ackley shoulder which locates the brass and keeps it from going to far forward. with a positive stop like this the plunger spring would have little choice but to compress. but on a cartridge that your trying to move the shoulder forward, the cartridge is basically headspaceing on the bullet against the lands and i was wondering if neck tension on the bullet will overcome the plunger spring and allow the case head to rest against the bolt. dave. | |||

A very small amount of lube on the case will eliminate any of these worries. It will increase backthrust slightly, but creates no problems when using light/fireforming loads. I generally lube every other case, when fireforming. It pretty much eliminates case stretching. | |||

I have been fireforming for my .260ai in a M700. I very firmly seat the bullet into the lands & use a med. load/med. bullet weight (120gr). I've had no problums w/ 60rds so far. | |||
