Overheard a conversation at the local gun shop about a "338 Diablo" Confused- sounded like it is based on the 300 or 338 ultra case with the shoulder moved forward - does anyone have any info on such a cartridge?

I believe the .338 Diablo is based on the .300 RUM case.

It is a pet project under construction by Seabass at Sportman's Whorehouse....300 RUM necked to .338 (gains about 1/8 in in shoulder over 338 RUM). He's having Stan Jackson build one with a 28 or 30 in barrel on a m 700 action and planning to single feed as bullets will be seated out too long for the mag. Also mentioned a custom, increasing twist barrel from somewhere.....sounds like an interesting project.

Cheers,

Dan
