I've been thinking about a wildcat for a Martini in 6mm/243, mostly a 6x357 Max or 6x50R, but now I'm wondering about a short fat case....has anyone done a 'cat like this using a 44 mag, 44-40 or 38-40 case ( I have hundreds of 38-40 cases ).....

I have not but years ago in Guns & Ammo there was a space-age Martini thumbhole heavy short barrel rifle in 22/44.

Wish I had room to keep all the G&A magazine I had.

I bought a 6mm ARC, not a rimmed case but definitely short and fat.

223, 6mm ARC and 350 Legend
