I discovered one day while installing the firing pin assembly in a Mark-X bolt that it will lock in place one turn short of all the way in. In this rifle it would not fire at all. Inspect the bolt shroud fit to the back of the bolt handle and see that it is not one turn short. Good luck.

As was stated the Mark X will stop with the shroud one turn from being all the way on. You must depress the bolt sleeve stop and turn the sleeve one more turn. When the handle is in the up postion the sleeve will be against the handle.

Looks like the problem may be operator error. I pulled the bullets and powder and deprimed the 5 offending rounds, then re-primed, making sure the primers were seated all the way (I use an RCBS Hand Unit). I then test fired them, and all 5 fired successfully. So I'm guessing this batch of brass has deep primer pockets, and I just wasn't seating them fully.

Now it's back to the range to properly fire-form them!

Thanks,
Washougal Chris
