.35-.284 Loads

Okay guys, I'm looking for either some suggested loads for my .35-.284 (using Sierra 225, Nosler 225 Partition, and/or Speer 250 Hotcor). Bear in mind that my rifle is a Savage 99. (I don't expect to reach what a bolt gun could.)

But if none of you have any data, then maybe you could comment on this for me:
Load From A Disk tells me the full case capacity of the .35-.284 is 67.29 grains of water while the .350 Rem Mag's full case capacity is 72.25 grains of water. The ratio of 67.29 to 72.25 is 93.1%. Is it safe to use 93.1% of published starting loads for the .350 Rem Mag as starting loads in the .35-.284, as long as the overall cartridge lengths are held constant?

And yes, I'll also pay attention to what Load From A Disk projects for loads. But frankly, I've become disenchanted with this software because it projects loads with velocities that are less than what loading manuals show for the .358 Winchester, which has much less case capacity.

Ackley's books have very limited data for this one.

Maybe one of you would be willing to give me some results from Quick Load?

Thanks for any guidance.

Jerry,
the 35-284 is close to the 35 whelen, right (2.5 grains less capacity)... i have heard of people using the starting loads for the whelen to get moving...

I would reduce another 10%, but seems like a reasonables palce to bgin

Thanks Jeffe. I certainly have more loading data available for the Whelen than the .350 RM. However, my thought was that the .35-.284 and the .350 RM normally both share the 2.8" COL limitation, which isn't a constraint with the Whelen. I was thinking the net case capacities were closer between the .35-.284 and the .350 RM than would be the case with the Whelen, when using 225 and 250 gr bullets.

So, is my idea of proportioning the loads relative to case capacity valid or not?

Thanks for your continuing help.
