Does anybody know any details about the Ruger Compact Magnum? Case length? or Capacity?
300 and 338 RCM , supposed to give the same performance as the 300 and 338 Winchester. Comes with a 20" barrel and only 6 3/4 lbs.
Sounds like too much fun.

The case length for the .300 is 2.100 and 2.015 for the .338.
The base to shoulder length on the .338 is a bit shorter than the .300
OAL is supposed to be 2.840.
They have a 30 deg. shoulder, case hd dia is .532, necks are .300 long.
Case cap is 68-(338) and 72-(300) grains of water.
Well there you go...enjoy. Smiler

Thanks for the info. Looks like they are in the same neighborhood as the AI 06 cases, just shorter.

I'm betting that the 300 & 338 are just the tip of the iceberg. Should be followed pretty quick by a few more RCM's like... .25 cal, 27 cal and maybe a 28 cal.

Imagine a 6.5 on that case, OAL of 3.10" to fit in a short action. 7mm for that matter. IIRC the Ruger short actions can hold such a round, no?

I stated in another post that a 6.5 RCM would be cool Cool The other idea that struck me was going the other way and opening the 300RCM case up and making a 380 RCM (.375). In my mind, it would make a neat little short action thumper that would be similar in case capacity to the 376 Steyr. My guess is that this would be like a 350 REmMag with a little extra ooomph.
