I don't know of any that are based on the .308. Trying to hop up the 308 seems like a lot of effort compared to just buying a .30-06. If you want a hotter performer in a short action, you can get a .300 WSM.

There is the .30-06 Ackley. Some like it, I don't. Very little improvement over the original, IMO, for the trouble.

Let's see;

308=243,260

30/06=25/06,6.5/06,270,280,338/06,35Whalegun,375/06

That's a few, I'm sure not all

So, you're asking about .30 cal wildcats, right?
There's the Hawk on the '06 case, and I think RWS and Howell have done improved versions, as well as Ackley, JDJ and others. Likewise, there have been improved 308's, but I don't think they "improved" it much.
There's the 30 Kurz, which is about 1.29" long on either case.
There's the 300 Savage, though there's nothin' wild about that cat.
The 30 Gibbs is on the '06 case.
That's all I know of....

What's the point? Why mess with the perfection that is the 30-06? Sean

I'm shooting a new 338-08 this year during my elk hunts using a 200 gr hornady getting around 2600fps.

You need to find an early fifties (when the 308 first came out) reloading book, or check some of the magasines from that time. The 308 was necked up, down, and sideways. 223/4, 228, 243/4, 25, 6.5, 27, 7mm, 311, 32/8mm, 338, 35, 375 and straight wall. Some of these became factory ammo (243 Win, 260 Rem, 7mm-08, 358), others did not, and/or are known by other names (22-243 or 7mm SGLC for example). Not much that hasn't been done on the basic 308 brass, same as the 30-06. There you have 22, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 31, 32, 33, 35, 36, 37, and 40 (and straight wall) wildcats, some of which became factory loads (25-06 and 280 Rem for example). Keep looking, there's lot's out there. - Dan

Actually on closer reading, I think Joe wants wildcats in 30 Cal based on the 308 or 06 cases. So, 308 AI, 30-06 AI, 30 Gibbs, 30 Howell, whatever Z hat calls their 30 cal version. The Howell and Z-hat versions are longer then a standard 06 case, and I think that the Z hat version started out as a 9.3 X 62. FWIW - Dan
