I purchased a Remington 700 chambered for the 250 ack. imp. it came with 180 rounds of brass formed by a company called Buzztail Brass, also it came with CH dies. The problem i have is that only 80 cases will chamber in the rifle. The ones that wont do not have a sharp angle on the shoulder, they are more rounderd similar to what a Weatherby case is like. I re-sized the brass, it did no good, i even tired running a few through a 22-250 die and they still would not chamber, my 22-250 ack imp brass will chamber fine in the rifle. Any ideas what to try or what the problem could be, I am guessing the cases were formed without a full charge so they did not blow out enough, and they were not formened in this rifle. Also any one got any 250 savage brass.

thanks

Rino

I have a 6.5X257AI and RCBS dies. Ths dies proved to be too long when I wanted to full length size my cases. The fix was to chuck them in my layth and with a carbide bit turn a few thousands off at a time until they would size properly.
Another fix would be to take some off the shellholder.

I found the problem, I could not get the dies to go down far enough. I took some metal off the shell holder and now i can get the dies to go down far enough to put the 40 deg. shoulder on the brass.

thanks

I have shell holders that I took so much off they have no tops.

To take some of carbide dies, I use the diamond grit.

You might be able to "bump" the shoulder back with a 250AI trim die- IF the case doesn't collapse.

if you are looking for 250 savage brass my best suggestion is to buy 22-250 brass and neck it up. i've done this several times for both my 250/3000 and my 250AI. going this route you can save about $20 to $25 on 500 rounds.

IF YOU'RE GONNA GET OLD,YOU BETTER BE TOUGH!! GETTIN' OLD AIN'T FOR SISSIES!!

just looked at the price of 250 savage brass and just about passed out50-60.00 a hundred and some places a buck a piece.
got out my rcbs collet bullet puller and put a 85 gr nosler bullet in backward, point down. using my rock crusher press opened the case mouths up to .250, ran them thru the 250 ai die, put 6.5 gr's of bullseye in topped off with a case full of cornmeal and a piece of tissue balled up to keep everything in place.

fired the rounds outside in the garage and like magic i had 50 250 savage ai cases 99% formed. it's to expensive to form with bullets unless you ha ve something to shoot at.

the taper of the bullet gently opens the case mouth up to the desired caliber.

if you had to you could just fireform 22-250 without expanding the neck.
