I am thinking of building my first wildcat, Action is an interarms MKX with a timney triger and I am thinking of a thumhole sporter style stock, I might go .257 Roberts Ack imp, But bigger bullets are more practicle for my kind of shooting, mabye 6.5,06 improved would be good, I already have an excelent .270 I see the 270 improved is on the list of chamberings at Pac nor, any body ever had any experence with this wildcat ? How much of a velocity boost do you get over the standard . .270win, mabye i should just have my smith open up the bolt face and make a .270 weatherby out of her ? What do you think guys ? ...tj3006

The 270 AI is an excellent cartridge, I have had 2 but, someone has talked me out of both of them. I will build another on on a 721 rem action I aquired this past year. Saeed has also used the 270AI with excellent success and there is some good reference data here on the site.

The 270 wby is a great ctg. but to rechamber without
setting barrel back at least the length of the neck,
you would wind up with a loose neck. The 270 Win neck
is .308 and the Wby is .303.
You can't improve much on the std. 270 Win. a great
old chambering.
