Any info out there on 30-06 shortened to 2.125" COL? The rifle barrel is marked .300 and originally we thought this was a 300 Savage however the Savage is short in the neck and slightly fatter. First I've seen...appears to be a 50's rifle.

In France there is the 30-06 SHORT which is a 30-06 chamber made shorter. This so that the rifle becomes incapable of chambering regular 30-06 and so no longer a prohibited military calibre weapon.

Also could be a 7.5x54 French. But if the .300 Savage case is slightly fatter than the chamber, then a short-chambered 30-06 wildcat may be the answer.
