""404 J's but, it'll definately fit the looky what I got catagory ""

But it ain't gonna fit that 1909 without a good bit of work and know how. I shot a really sweet shooting 250-3000 bolt action Mauser Wed. It had a handsome Mannlicher type stock, a quality 3X9 shorty scope and a 22" barrel. Light, balanced, great grouping and pleasant recoil. A really swell combination for the lower 48. When you convert the 1909 to 250-3000 go for the deep throat and seat those 120 grainers out far enough to preclude infringement in the powder room. roger

A .338-06 is a good choice, particularly well suited for hunting in PA. It's a wildcat, but not so exotic that dies are prohbitively expensive.

Other good choices are the 6.5mm-06

I certainly wish both those were standard offerings from the majors. These are some of the best wildcats available.

I see Midway sells headstamped brsss for both (from A-Square I believe). While not a wildcat, the .280 Remington is a superb use for a 1909 Argie as well.
