Hi all, I'm trying to get my 325 x 2.5" project going again after a busy summer.
The short story is 325 WSM reamer run in for a 2.5" chamber. Cut off RUM brass, neck down in cut off 338 RUM sizer, then finish neck size with 325 WSM size die.
The 325 reamer left the chamber about .555", the RUM base is around .545".
I'm thinking of clamping the barreled action to the bench at the range and fireing remotely.
I'll start with low pressure loads around 40k and go up in 5k steps to see if the brass will hold or split.
Capacity is just over 8mm Rem mag, 101gns H2O.
I have some 185 Corelokts to play with, but what powder to use? Was the Blue Dot testing ever done with a case about this size?
I have a jug of surplus IMR 5010. From Quickload 86gns should be around 40k 2670fps and 97% load density,
and 90gns 45k 2830fps and 102%.
Or would there be a better powder for the low pressure loads? Also what case capacity should be the lowest to play with, 80%?
I'm thinking of RL-22 for the higher pressure loads, 83-90 gns, go up in 2gn steps to see how the brass holds up.
Thoughts?
