Has anyone ever tried to neck a big pistol case down, give it a shoulder and make a short fat rifle cartridge?

Looking at .454 cases and 6PPC, it looks like you could make a slightly a case with slightly higher capacity.

Also it appears the the rimmed design of the .454 may hold more powder in the lower section of the case.

I just wonder how short the whole thing would really end up once you took enough brass to make up a neck for it.

Give it the same 30 shoulder and you would have some kind os 6PPCSM???

I guess the brass wouldn't be very resistent after so much forming and be prone to splitting.

Too much spare time on my hands? [Roll Eyes]

Express, Virgin Valley, they make T/C Contender and Encore Barrels as well as doing bolt guns, lists a 22/454 Casull in their chambering list. I don't know the shoulder angles or any of that but I have seen it on their sight. Most of the guys keep an eye on the single shot forums so a post their could get some questions answered. Sean

I think that the new 50 S&W Mag case has some potential for this type of wildcatting too. Once it is readily available, i am gonna look into a wildcat based on it with 41 caliber bullets! [Big Grin]
