What the heck is a 300 Tejas and why would anybody want one? What will it do that 300RUM or 30-378Wby won't do? Why do all the super high velocity 30s all seem to revolve around 160-180gr bullets? Wouldn't it seem pertinent that they send 200-250grnrs at 300Win 150 velocity? Andy We Band of Bubbas N.R.A Life Member TDR Cummins Power All The Way Certified member of the Whompers Club

There was a time when an 06' was considered a screamer. Innovation is obviously good, but for the last 10-15 years there has definately been a plateau. New rounds that duplicate another on paper. Doing so in a more efficient manner might mean a couple hundred more rounds of barrel life. Is there a gap between Warbird and 30 Cody ? For the record, I've never wild-catted, just find it interesting.

300 Tejas must really be an unknown. 85 views and only one comment. I suppose because you can shoot 30 RUM in a bind that makes this a "great" Chamber. To me a couple hundred feet extra isn't worth it. Become a better stalker and learn to get closer to your intended game. Boddington reviews this in Guns And Ammo this month. He makes some interesting observations on it.

http://www.cc-arms.com/tejas/ Same headspace at neck-1 as the 300 RUM, 50-degree shoulder angle and zero case-body taper? Obviously and "IMPROVED" 300 RUM. Wild claims: Proprietary wildcat claims usually are.

Hmmmmmm Let's see in an 06 type case for every 4% of capacity increase you get 1% velocity. In a magnum case even less. So by reducing the taper you magically gain 12% velocity. Let's see Hornady list 3260 for the Wmag, Weatherby lists 3350 for the 300 Wby which would have less capacity than the Rum. Even Weatherby only list 3450-3500 for the 30-378 which is going to have a lot more capacity than the Tejas. If you create it and I guess you can call the numbers what you want. Wouldn't bet any on that one. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

Random thoughts... Even in a 300 Win Mag, I like the 200 grain bullet for bigger game... I have had great results on elk, and actually even on red fox at 350 yards with the 200gr Trophy Bonded Bearclaw bullet. But actually I tend to be a heavy for calibre bullet kind of guy. Even with premium bullets, I have never seen any failures with heavier bullets. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

The Cross Canyon Arms Shop is just up the road from me and I've stopped by there a couple of times and talked with Brad (the inventor of the Tejas line). He created the Tejas line based off a 60 degree shoulder instead of a 40 like PO Ackley. The concept of the chamberings are the same though: fire a standard cartridge in the improved chamber to fire form. The only two cartridges of of the Tejas line that I've thought about would be a 375 Ruger Tejas or a 7X375 Ruger Tejas. Hope this helps a little.

I guarantee you a 168gr Berger goes faster than 3200 in a 300 RUM....they do better than that in a 300 Win mag. Somebody has been smoking real good weed. I would bet the Tejas won't do more than 100-150fps over the 300 RUM...and I am being generous. I bet getting that sharp shoulder cost you a few reloads per case too.
