I've recently done one on a Savage M99 lever gun. Still early in load development and I haven't found the magic yet. I'm getting around 2400 fps with 250 grain bullets. I don't expect to reach the velocity you could reach in a bolt gun. My barrel is 22". I'd guess a .35/.284 in a short action bolt gun should probably run about 100 fps faster than a .358 Win. in a short action bolt gun. Now, to answer a question you didn't ask, I think a better choice for a short action bolt gun would be a .35-.300 WSM. I've built that one too, but haven't shot it yet. Will do load development next Friday. Expect 2700 fps with 250 grain bullets. Jerry/AK

350 rem mag is all but identical. if you are forced to use a 473 bolt face then that would be the best option. if your are using a bolt gun then the 350 would be the way to go.... woofer
