Guys,
I'm sure thinking about having one of these made. I've contacted jnrifleworks.com seems like a great guy. He was very helpful. Does any one have a program they can run and tell me what type of proformance I can expect out of a 19' to 20" tube with 325,350 and 400grn bullets.

thanks
liled

You would be better served with a 24"barrel,no 416 is a carbine round.Your burning alot of powder,to get that bullet up to snuff. One thing for sure, you can hunt big game, anyware in the world.

Liled,
I'll look at the 416 jamison for you.

this will only require a short barrel for full expansion, as this is way UNDER bore.

20" bbl on a 416 = good idea.
You won't get Rigby performance, but I bet you aren't expecting that anyway.
I'd say 2400+ with a 300g would be reasonable.

I have a bolt-action 450 Marlin with a 22" barrel and I don't have any problem getting 2500fps with the 300gr Nosler Partition....and my case is a lot smaller than a 416/300wsm.

I know several shooters who have custom 416 Lazzeroni Marericks which is John Lazzeroni's short 30-cal Patriot necked up to .416 and they are getting 2300+ fps with 400gr bullets (22" barrels) without any signs of pressure....the WSM should get just about that with a similar length barrel.

You might contact Mark Bansner as I believe he has built several of these for clients.

Ken Ewing (over on JGBS@YahooGroups.com ) is building a .416 WSM on an MRC action as we speak. He is throating particularly for a very large meplat 350 gr. Mountain Mould cast bullet he designed. Computer shows that 350 gr. bullet at 2,150 fps as a mild load.

I have a .416 wildcat that my grandpa created. It's on a sa 700 that was a 6.5 rem. I use 7mm rem cases cut to 51mm in length. I get 2200 fps with 330 grainers and 52 grains of RL 7. I'm using 300 grainers too but have not chronographed them yet. It has a 22'' barrel
