Has anyone seen or have experience with a 40 degree shouldered 308??
I'm thinkin' of making one and trying it out. I'm not looking for increased muzzle velocity, just want to move the turbulece point to inside the case neck and not in the throat. I also am tired of trimming my cases after each firing, and other rounds with a 40 degree shoulder don't expand as rapidly. Many thanks,

Question:
Has anyone seen or have experience with a 40 degree shouldered 308??

Choices:
Yes
NO

WinkSince you are talking wild cat , might I suggest not moving the focus of turbulance with a shoulder angle change but with a neck length increase, and a longer throat to better accomodate the longer bullets. Since we've gone this far get a faster twist also to facilitate the future use of mono-metal bullets.

You will still have the case stretch so maybe go with a down loaded 6mm(.244).

It's a dreary, rainy Sunday morning. fishingroger

If you are of a mind to, go for it, though I can't imagine it will end up cheaper in the medium- or even long- run over just buying new brass every three times.
Are you full-length resizing when you load? I wonder if you have a particularly sloppy chamber. No reason you should have to trim every time.

Bwana-be,
the factory barrel is comin' off in Mar, and a pac-nor top of the line 3 groove 1:12 twist 30 Cal. barrel is gonna get screwed on it. It does have a factory chamber now and thats what i've been reloading for, but not for long cause i'm gonna chambered for min. tight dimensions, not none of this factory slop crap. Thanks, and Mad Jack I'm off to look at the ackley improved, thanks,
