What wildcats do you know of?

I thought of cutting the brass down to 2.5 length, and necking it down to 7mm.. should fit ok in a magazine, and have more powder room than a 7 Rem mag..

Just playing around with some thoughts..

Lots. There's a 458, 416, an improved 338, a short 308, and I'm sure there are others.
Problem with the short version in a repeater is the case is so big you have feed troubles unless you know what you're doing.
I'm crazy about a couple short Rigby cases (same base) but have yet to find the plums and cabbage to try them out.

My 7mm Allen Mag is based off the full length 338 Lapua parent case. Shoulder angle increased and body taper deduced to minimum.

I designed the 7mm Allen Mag around the 200 gr Wildcat ULD RBBT. In a 30" barrel we are getting legit +3300 fps potential. My personal load is right around 3250 fps.

Ballistically nothing will really run with it. From bullet drop testing out to 1400 yards this bullet has a BC of +.900. You can do the math from there ballistically. Remember this BC is based on bullet drop numbers over 1400 yards.

Your idea is a good one. With conventional bullets such as the 160 Accubond we are getting +3500 fps. lots of fun!!
