Anyone ever hear of this one? I know there've been a few G&A rounds over the years, but haven't heard of one in the .338 caliber. Dimensions would be appreciated!

Ross did research on it in G&A..It is in July 94 issue. I am familiar with it as it is based on 404 Jeffrey case, and Ross had some Bell versions that were the Rimless 450NE basic case that were the same size as the Jeffry base, but when necked to 338 he couldn't get velocity he wanted in a long 33 G&A version. They were experimenting with all lengths...So I bought that bunch of long 3.25 in cases from him to make my 458 HE wildcat.I had built a bunch of my 458HE cases in first two years of cartridge developement, from 450 NE by turning off rims and belting the cases. With these I got from him, saved a lot of work, as I only had to put on the belt and size the cases.Ed.

Hey, Ed, thanks for the reply. Any idea what the dim's are? Don't have access to that issue of G&A. I know the parent case, but neck length, case length, taper are of interest to me if available. Thanks again. Taylor

It is like the Canadian imperial case. About 2.9 inches long, .544 base, .530 shoulder, 338 bullet, about .365 neck dia, about 2.44 base to shoulder.Got some of this from Imperial drawings in Ken's book, and compared the pictures of the two in Ross' article. And there are a dozen other 338s built from Jeffrey size case of all lengths in there also.Ed.

Right, so basically a 338 RUM sort of animal. Thank you for the help, Ed.

That's right, in most calbers there is nothing new under the sun, so to speak...Ed

Quote: Similar, but longer. I have a 375/33 G&A. It actually will accept a factory 375 Ultramag case with slight resistance on closing the bolt. This case fireforms nicely, saving a lot of work using case forming dies on 404 basic brass. It comes out of the chamber with a bit less body taper and a slightly sharper shoulder angle than the standard Ultramag brass. It therefore has slightly greater capacity than the standard 375 Ultramag (with the obvious ability to get slightly higher velocity if loaded to equal pressure). It is similar to Saeed's 375/404 Improved. As Ed said, there's nothing new under the sun. Jim
