I think I remember - It was a wildcat introduced some years ago by Jim Carmicheal based on a match 308 case (which used the small rifle primer) blowned out to a 40 degree neck.

I thought the Bobcat was on the 250 Savage case.

This is Carmichel's response to my email.

Some of the guys on the Accurate Reloading forum are trying to figure out what the 260 Bobcat is. Somebody attributed the cartridge to you. Can you tell me anything?
I hope you and your wife have a very Happy New Year.
Butch

Yep, I'm guilty. I done it and named it. It's a pretty good round too. All things considered, better than Panther/aka/.260 Rem. Remington considered both and went with .260 (at my suggestion) for marketing reasons. Between us, my best OTC, lite 1000yd BR, and silhouette rifles are Bobcats. More to the story I'll tell you sometime, such as that we also worked on a small primer version of Bobcat long before Lapua and Hornady "invented" their versions. (I still have some of the test cases.)
Have a great New Year.
