Hogman25-270WSM
Does anyone have any information on reloading this wildcat? What is the case capacity of the 270WSM case? I understand that the pressure varies a lot from round to round. If I build a custom rifle it will have a tight neck and I would turn the necks to .015. Currently the necks are around .020 which may be one of the reasons for the inconsistency in the pressure. I would use this rifle for long range woodchuck hunting so I will not be using bullets over a hundred grains. How many rounds could I get out of this barrel if I don't let it heat up, since it is overbore?
Thanks for the input.

TC1Yea, I've done it. Ballistics pretty much mimic a .257 Weatherby. Brass flow is horrible and the cases need constant maintenance or the chamber needs a generously wide neck. Either way it's a real pain in the arse to work with. I sold mine and bought a .257WBY.

ConAn article apperaed in an Australian magazine on the 25WSM written by Nick Harvey. Last line in the reload data ... "The 25/06 is recommended as being a more satisfactory cartridge overall". Article mentions a host of frustrating problems.
Cheers...

jeffeossoi did it, from the FIRST day winnie released the 300 wsm drawing.... nothing but a straight neck down.
easily hit 257 weatherby, very very accurate, tore it down and put the 416 AR on the action
