Hey Sabot,

With that 300 grain load, I don't believe there is much on earth that could stand up to it...Great idea!

What's wrong with simply necking up the 9.3X62 to .375? This would be similar to the 375 Hawk, without all the case forming problems. The additional bullet weights would be useful, and it could be dropped into a long action to seat out to 3.60 COL.

In this configuration, the case capacity would be 67 grs water with a 260 gr Nosler for 2717 fps and 4268 fpe. Even the classic 300 gr loads would have at least 62 grs of capacity, for 2472 fps and 4074 FPE.

This round would have the same sized shoulder as the 35 Whelen for good headspacing in a custom chamber...we could take it to 25 degrees to make it even better.

Best of all, one could simply seat any .375 bullet that has a small boat tail directly into the now readily available 9.3X62 brass, since the increase in diameter would be only .009 inches.

At the light end of the scale, the availability of 210 and 225 gr spitzers would provide for excellent trajectories for medium game at long range.

I realize that one could simply put a 375 H&H into this action, but case capacity would jump 20 grains, and so would recoil.

Any thoughts?
